Electrolyte:
The chemical in a battery that conducts the current between the positive and negative electrodes.
Anode Electrode:
Electrode were LOSS of electrons takes place.
Discharging-uses negative electrode.
Charging-uses positive.
Cathode Electrode:
Electrode were the GAIN of electrons takes place.
Discharging- uses the positive.
Charging- uses the negative.
Discharge:
To remove the energy from a battery cell.
Physical Battery Restrictions:
Dimensions , weight, size of terminals, over all height, etc. of batteries.
Cycle Life:
How many times a battery can be charged and discharged before it's ability to hold a charge is over.
Cell:
A term used to describe a single battery or a single battery in a group of batteries within a battery pack.
Self Discharge:
A process that happens when a battery is not used for a long period of time.
Internal Resistance:
Low internal resistance is required for HIGH RATE DISCHARGE Batteries to prevent over heating and failure of battery.
Energy Density:
The ratio of a battery's energy to its volumn. (watt hour/liter)
Efficiency of Battery:
Measured by Ampere-Hour, Watts and Voltage.
Specific Power:
Specific discharge rate of a battery.
